Setting goals

As I said before I decided to work on a new book while my friends read the latest draft of my novel.  I gave copies to my sister and her best friend because they are both writers.  I also plan on giving a copy to one of my students who is a great writer; next will come my sister-in-law who's an avid reader, I gave a copy to Mr. Reyes, the principal of the school where I am working; he loves books and I've talked to him about my writing.   Last but not least my twin sister.

While they are reading the book I decided to work on my new book.  One day while driving in a car I stated to think about a girl sitting in the back seat of a car.  She was a teenager and worried about life as a kid.  She never felt like she fit in and then I discovered why- it's because she's an alien.  That's all I can say because I don't know who she is yet.  My goal is to finish a draft by the end of the summer.  My goal for my first book is to wait two months for my readers to finish it.  I can't wait for everyone.  I figure if they really want to read the book then they should be able to do it in two months and during that time I will just keep writing. Once the two months are up I'll get my notes and complete the last draft of my book, then I plan to send it to my Aunt Hazel who use to proofread for a newspaper.  Once it's checked for typos I will start submitting query letters to agents in hopes of getting representation and someone to submit the manuscript to publishing and film production companies in the hopes of getting a book and film deal.

Set yourself goals; don't beat yourself up if you don't meet them just set new goals and try again.  Remember just keep writing!
