Life As We Knew It by Susan Beth Pfeffer is the story about 16 year old girl named Miranda whose life is changed forever after an asteroid collides with the moon, setting off natural disasters all over the world. Miranda, her mother, and brother have to fight to survive when this event triggers food shortages and all kinds of horrific events that threaten their daily survival. In the midst of it all Miranda finds time to fall in love and learns summons the strength and courage to fight for her family's survival.
This book is the first in a trilogy. Although the subject matter may seem like a downer it's not. The story was very engrossing as Miranda and her family deal with challenge after challenge that life throws at them.
