How to Keep Your Plot Moving

You've got a great idea for a story.  You already figured out who the characters are, the beginning and you already know how your story is going to end.  What's next?  Well, you need to figure out what happens between the beginning and end of your story.  How do you do this you ask?  Just think of  one thing.  What's the worst thing that could happen?

Harry Potter goes to school; he makes friends; people love him!  That's great but now the evil wizard that killed his parents now wants to kill him too!  Just when things start looking good for Harry something else comes up, a magical stone, a deadly snake, dementors that can stuck your soul right out of you and the list goes on and on.  In The Hunger Games Katness's sister is selected for the games but she takes her place, but now she now she needs to get the public to love in order to get their help during the games, then Katness has to deal with Peeta falling for her and oh yeah she has to kill her friends one by one during the game too.

Stories are about conflict and to make readers interested in your story you have to keep the conflict going. So once you have your idea, begin writing your story and things start going well for your character, stop and ask yourself what's the worse thing that could happen.  Make it happen and keep on writing until you have to make it happen again and again.  In the end you'll have a great story!
